BEFORE YOUR FIRST BREW

A few good
questions.

Where can I get ColdBrew?

Find ColdBrew Awake on the US App Store for Mac and iPhone. Update the Mac app to version 1.1 for closed-lid sessions. Updates may take time to appear after release. This website includes interactive browser demos; they do not install the app or change sleep settings.

Will it work with my MacBook lid closed?

Yes—version 1.1 adds optional closed-lid sessions. Turn on “Keep awake with lid closed” before starting; the option starts off each time you launch ColdBrew. Compatibility varies by Mac model and macOS version. Use a hard, ventilated surface and stop the session before putting your laptop in a bag. Setup and limits ↗

What happens when a session ends?

ColdBrew releases its keep-awake request and restores normal lid behavior. If recovery needs attention, it shows a message with a retry control. Other apps may still keep your Mac awake. Recovery help ↗

Does it know when a download or render finishes?

The current app uses timed or indefinite sessions. It does not detect task completion. Choose a duration that works for your task, or stop the session yourself.

Can I choose sounds and quiet hours?

Yes. The Mac app has four optional cues, separate cue switches, volume, and daily quiet hours. Quiet hours silence automatic sounds without stopping your session. Sounds and quiet hours start off for new users. Preview buttons deliberately play even during quiet hours; volume zero and system mute still apply. Try the matching browser controls.

Will my iPhone receive low-battery alerts?

Yes, with the optional ColdBrew iPhone companion. Install both native apps, use the same Apple Account for iCloud, allow notifications, and save your alert settings. Your Mac must be awake, online, and running ColdBrew. Alerts trigger at 20% or below while unplugged, once until the battery recharges to 25%. Delivery can be delayed or missed. This website only simulates alerts.

Does ColdBrew turn dark at night?

Choose Follow Mac in Settings, then Auto in macOS Appearance. ColdBrew follows that system change. You can also keep Light or Dark selected. Appearance and quiet hours are independent.

What about privacy?

Sessions, Mac preferences, and activity stay on your Mac. Optional phone alerts store a random Mac identifier, a generic label, alert timestamps, and notification settings in your private iCloud database. No ads or analytics are included. Read the privacy policy for details.
